ATM'ing it - Just noticed

ATM'ing it -

Just noticed that it is cheaper, in terms of fees, for me to withdraw money from a non-HSBC ATM in England than it is from a non-HSBC ATM in the states. HSBC in the states charged me a dollar and the bank in Manchester charged me ... nothing.

And this is due to a customer revolt over the odious fees for interlinked ATMs that occurred here in the UK a few years ago. So much for the Americans being the "customer is always right" activists and the Brits maintaining a "stiff upper lip".

Sure the exchange rate isn't the most fantastic but it is basically the same as you get over the counter for realistic cash in hand amounts.
