Dirty Pretty Things

Caught this Indy flick at the Wescott theatre this week. It isn’t porn.

But it is bloody good. And confronting at the same time. It made me want to run home and kiss my passport. And it really shows the bind (or clover depending on one’s ethics) that doctors can be in over the black market.

This came in via the AAAS Science and Human Rights Program list …

Organ trade and Doctors’ roles

Organ trade - growth business. The BMJ reports on research of the
Council of Europe which has issued a report saying that, “because of a
rapidly increasing demand for kidney transplants, trafficking in kidneys
has become a hugely profitable business for international organised
crimeâ??and for the doctors who perform the procedures”.
