While I was in the UK I used a very old black and white only TV. I confess, though, that I used it without a licence. In the UK one must have a licence to recieve a TV signal. A man came around one Sunday to collect the £32 I would owe (it is more like £120 for a colour TV) but luckily I was out ;) Letters came every other day to all of the flatmates but we all ignored it.
But now I feel guilty. You see licences are one of the ways in which the BBC is funded. Now this institution, under regular attack from new labour politicans, is choosing to give their public-funds created programmes to the public for non-commercial use for free. How cool is that.
