Me in History

Amazon has full text searching of a big chunk of their books. This is cool. But using it is cooler.

Being me, I am interested in me. And people that I used to be. Well at least those that had my name …

Amazon tells me that I looked after Dickens’ estraged brother when i was a Doctor in London.

“To Dr James Howison,

My Dear Sir,
Passing through London to day on my way from Brighten to Manchester, I find your touching letter. I hasten to assure you that I am tryly grateful to you for your care of my later brother …”

The Letters of Charles Dickens, 1868-1870 (Letters of Charles Dickens, Vol 12) p 207.

and that I basically invested rubber clothing when i was a chemist in Edinburgh.

“Rubber gloves and boots were also made by James Howison, who dipped wax molds into latex …”

From The Chemical Revolution: A Contribution to Social Technology (Classics in the History and Philosophy of Science, Vol. 8)
